Bow Down Daisy Duke

Celebrity encounter alert! Katie got to meet the band Rooney after their show and thought she'd give you a quick blurb about her amaaazing experience.

Last Friday night, my roommate and I headed into Baltimore for a Rooney concert at Ram's Head Live. We were having a great time, jamming out to the opening act and our new favorite boys in tight pants, Locksley. Check them out: http://www.bandoflocksley.com/shows.php.

We were just a few people back from the front, perfect location. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me because the ticket said they weren't allowed (even though the dozens of high school girls in front of us were snapping photos like they were the freaking paparazzi). I should have known better. I did have a very helpful cell phone video camera, however, and have attached a video of Rooney's performance to the bottom of this post.

Anywho, as we were waiting for them to set up for Rooney, I decided to run and buy a t-shirt. After I had paid for it, the girl behind the counter commented, "Now you can go to the meet and greet."

Me: (excitedly) What? Meet and greet?? What's that???

Girl behind counter: Well you meet the band and they sign stuff for you.

Me: (super excitedly) OMG!! Are you serious??

I proceed to run back to Ashley and tell her to buy a t-shirt so we can go meet the band after the show. She does, Rooney comes on and we spend the next hour and a half rocking out.

Now to back up a little bit, Rooney might not seem like that big of a celebrity encounter if you've never heard of them. But to give you an idea of their star points, the lead singer Robert Carmine (formerly known as Robert Coppola Schwartzman) was Michael Moscovitz in the movie The Princess Diaries. Never seen it? He's also the brother of Jason Schwartzman and cousin to Sofia Coppola and Nicholas Cage. Okay now I know you've heard of Nicholas Cage. And if you haven't, you've surely seen an episode of the OC from under your rock. The band were guest stars during the dark days of Oliver.

After the show, we joined the line to meet and greet the band and have our t-shirts signed. I was like kid on Christmas morning. We finally made it to the table, said hello to Taylor and Matthew and then it was the moment of truth. Robert reached out his hand, shook mine and thanked me for coming to the show. In our brief conversation, he looked me in the eye and seemed to be memorizing my face. Now here's an artist who really appreciates his fans, to the point where he wants to try and remember them all! I was giddy. I smiled one last time and assured him that it had been a great show. As the remaining two members of Rooney signed my shirt and thanked me, all I could think was BEST DAY EVER!

My advice? Go see a Rooney concert. They are uber talented and the nicest celebrities I have been lucky enough to meet.
